Aftermarket Seatbelt Types We Supply
Aftermarket seatbelts are general-purpose replacements suitable for a wide range of vehicles. Understanding the different types available helps ensure you get the right belt for your application.
Static Lap and Lap/Diagonal Belts
These are simple non retracting 2 point and 3 point seatbelts which are commonly used in older vehicles, often in the rear seats and in certain commercial applications where retractor seatbelts are not able to be fitted.
Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR)
The most common type of seatbelt retractor in modern passenger vehicles. An ELR allows free movement during normal use but locks the belt firmly in place during sudden deceleration or impact. These are available in a wide range of configurations to suit different vehicles and seating positions.
Web Clamp Retractors (WC)
A web clamp retractor uses a clamping mechanism to lock the seatbelt from retracting during an accident, and was popular in the 1990's but have essentially been superseded by pretensioner designs in newer model cars.
Pretensioner Retractors (PT)
Pretensioners tighten the seatbelt instantly at the moment of a collision, removing slack and holding the occupant firmly in position before the airbag deploys. These are standard in most modern vehicles and are available as aftermarket replacements for a wide range of makes and models.
Load Limiters (LL)
Load limiters work in conjunction with pretensioners to control the amount of force applied to the occupant's chest during a collision. They release controlled amounts of webbing to manage impact force, reducing the risk of chest injury.
Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR)
ALR belts lock into a fixed position once pulled to the desired length. They are most commonly used in industrial applications and for securing child restraint seats, where a fixed belt length is required.
